Welcome to Salty Dogz

Your Nantucket home away from home.

Welcome to Salty Dogz! We hope you enjoy our Nantucket home as much as our family does.

Whether you're heading to the beach, biking into town, relaxing in the backyard, or enjoying cocktails on the deck, we want you to settle in, relax, and make yourself at home.

Salty Dogz is tucked into a quiet neighborhood just outside of town, close to Surfside Beach and convenient to the island's bike paths and shuttle. It's a wonderful spot to enjoy everything Nantucket has to offer while still having a peaceful place to come home to.

Make Yourself at Home

We've tried to stock the house with just about everything you'll need for a comfortable Nantucket stay. Our cleaning team is meticulous, but if you arrive and find anything that isn't just right, please call us right away.

The same goes for anything that comes up during your stay. We have a terrific and very responsive caretaker on the island, but we'd prefer that you contact us first so we can make sure you're taken care of.

Outdoor cooking: There's a new Weber propane grill on the deck for you to enjoy.

Don't Forget the Shed!

Our beloved shed is where the fun begins.

You'll find plenty of gear for days at the beach and afternoons around the house, including:

  • Beach chairs and umbrellas
  • Boogie boards
  • Beach toys for the kids
  • Backyard games and toys
  • Giant Jenga
  • Two bikes
  • Bike pump
  • And plenty of other Nantucket essentials

Please enjoy everything — that's what it's there for!

Most Importantly... Enjoy Nantucket!

We love this island and have filled this site with some of our favorite beaches, restaurants, shops, activities, and local tips to help you make the most of your stay.

We're delighted to have you at Salty Dogz and hope you leave with some wonderful Nantucket memories.

Enjoy your stay!

Our Favorite Beaches

SURFSIDE

  • Take a right at the end of Tashama Lane, and it’s 2 miles to the large parking lot.
  • Restrooms are available, and lifeguards are on duty.
  • Great snack shack for burgers, juices, and other snacks.
  • Suitable for families, but the surf can be rough.

FISHERMAN’S BEACH

  • Take a right at the end of Tashama Lane and go about 1.9 miles, then left on Nonantum. Just past Plum Street (on your left), there is a “public way” on the right. You can park on the right side of the road, or if you arrive early enough, a dirt road leading to the beach has parking on the right.
  • No permit required; again, the surf can be rough.
  • More private, but there are no amenities.

STONES BEACH

  • Take a right at the end of Tashama Lane and go about 1.9 miles, then left on Nonantum. Keep going about ½ mile, and you’ll see a small parking lot.
  • No permit required; again, the surf can be rough.
  • More private, but there are no amenities.

JETTIES BEACH

  • Use GPS for directions.
  • Jetties is named for the large rock jetties that have been guiding ships into Nantucket Harbor since their completion in 1911.
  • A great spot to bring the little ones, with restrooms and a full-service restaurant.
  • Large parking lot, with gentle waves or no waves.

For four-legged guests

We Love Dogs!

Slipcovers for the sofa are in the dog basket below the thermostat. Please use one during your stay. We change it out for new guests.

Dog food and water bowls are also in the same basket.

Kindly pick up after your dog in the yard before checkout—preferably more often so the landscapers don’t step in it.

NANTUCKET PET STORE (also known as GERONIMO’S)

  • Great pet store, just a 5-minute drive away.

LAND BANK DOG PARK

  • 5-minute drive
  • Conveniently located mid-island, the Land Bank Dog Park has two enclosed areas for your four-legged friends to run and play!
